I am a University of the Philippines
graduate. I earned my degree in Psychology in the UP Cebu campus in 2001.
Nine years later, I was able to learn about
the UP Open University Caring for the Child with Special Needs non-diploma
course. I inquired about how to enroll on this course via email. Finally, after
three years of waiting, this plan pushed through. I am back to being a UP
student!
In our first forum at the
UPOU website, Teacher Aya asked each of us what our occupations were, our expectations
from this course, and the reasons why we enrolled in this course.
For my answer, I posted
this:
"I used to be a
marketing officer in a fastfood chain, a team leader in 2 BPO companies, and a
highschool guidance counselor before I became a fulltime mom and primary
caregiver to my 6-year eldest son who has been diagnosed with high-functioning
autism in 2010. I gave birth to my second son last April 2013."
"Giving my eldest son
better TLC (tender loving care) is the main reason why I enrolled in CCSN. Even
if we have been providing him with his special needs such as putting him in
occupational therapy sessions, sped classes and his regular grade 1 classes, I
expect that I will be a better mother and caregiver to not only to my first
son, but also to my second son, after completing this course."
This endeavor is lovingly dedicated to my two children.
I love you, my little angels to the moon and back! :)
